New Zealand Defence Force wants you, rowers

The New Zealand Defence Force are out promoting at the Aon Maadi Cup.

Chief Petty Officer Mike Pope says rowers are a good fit for the Defence Force because they don’t mind getting up at “silly o’clock”, and they’re used to working in a team environment which “bodes well to be a good sailor, soldier or air person”.

Quite a few successful applicants have been rowers, Pope said.

“Rowers are a good purpose fit group of people that would fit well within the Defence Force,” Pope said.  “I think that’s a lot to do with the fact they’ve got that bit of grit and bit of determination.”

The tent at the Aon Maardi cup sees around 100 students a day.

On Thursday the NZDF will have a sponsored day.
