Waikato university student ambassador, Brendan Reetz is at the university tent all week, chatting to people and coordinating a number of competitions.

Other competitions include a simple Snapchat challenge where people must send their selfies to the Waikato University Snapchat for a chance to win a Waikato university hoodie, and a more physical competition to see how far you can travel on the rowing machines in one minute. At the end of the week the people with the best times get prizes sent out to them.

The main competition is the guessing game, with the prize of a Fitbit Ultra going to the winner drawn at the end of the week.

Reetz, 21, is in his fourth year of studying a Bachelor of Computing and Mathematical Sciences majoring in computer science, and this is his first year as a student ambassador.

“I enjoy it. It’s a lot of different work,” said Reetz. “We go to events, career fairs, and do school visits. I went to the North Island secondary school rowing championship a couple of weeks ago, and I’ve done two school visits and a bit of other work around the uni. It’s really fun.”
