New DHB building to boost Hamilton businesses

Small business owner Chris Lander is excited about DHB move to CBD.
MK1 owner Chris Lander is excited for the future of the CBD.

Construction of Hamilton’s new DHB building is nearing completion, with late 2017 the scheduled date.

The new DHB facility will aim to house under one roof staff who currently are scattered around the city.

“The DHB moving in will be a massive positive with its new customers,” MK1 owner Chris Lander said.

With Inland Revenue employees set to leave Hamilton Central, the DHB move should bring new customers into the CBD area.

“We generally keep regular customers, but the influx of new customers will definitely help the growth of independent businesses.”

Lander said he was unlikely to shift out of town, regardless of future developments.

“We couldn’t be at The Base, we would have to be such a different shop. Town is where the independent and neat businesses are due to cheaper rent and we need to get that vibe going again.”
