Call for the classics for spring and summer fashion

Now that winter is gone and summer is on its way, it’s time to refresh your wardrobe. This spring and summer season calls for classic pieces.

Once again we’re taking a step back in fashion time, this time narrowly missing the eighties fluorescent trend and heading straight for the nineties classics.

I visited Glassons, Moochi and Ruby to explore what their spring/summer lines are looking like and what we can expect to see this season.

Sam, who works at Glassons, said this season’s clothing lines are inspired by “back in the day” and that we will see “a lot of pastel colours, especially blues and pinks”.

Ruby’s line is inspired by youth in London during the nineties and Moochi seeks to bring classic and luxury pieces.

Pastel coloured clothing is evident in all three clothing lines, alongside rustic florals, poufy ruffles, gentle pleats, and perfectly tailored trousers.

A modern spin has been thrown on the timeless classic pieces by introducing suede silk material, baggy items and off the shoulder cuts.

“The must-have item this spring and summer season is anything off the shoulder,” Sam says.

Among Moochi’s statement pieces this season are the navy ‘chase blazer’ and the navy and floral Ramble dress with flared sleeves. Iin Ruby, some standout pieces are the coronation pink Cecila pleat skirt and floral maxi Ruby runner dress.

Now we all don’t have a money tree that allows us to shop at these high end stores, but over in Glassons you’ll find some similar classic pieces and colours in their Dreamcatcher line. The grey and checker tailored Strap detail jumpsuit is amongst the many playsuits and jumpsuits coming out in their line.

As new season lines come out, so do new makeup looks.

Natalie Haliday from MAC has given tips and advice for this seasons makeup looks.

To match your new wardrobe, Haliday says bold lip colours are your key look this season.

Complement your bold lip colour with only glossy foundation (no more matte looks) and graphic and sharp eye liner.

Haliday thinks that “lots of colour” will come out with this season’s looks following on from MAC’s Kaleidoscope trend and range.

The must-have makeup item this season is the ‘MAC Fix plus Prep and Prime spray’ and Haliday says she swears by the stuff.
