A new market aimed at parents of young children is coming to Hamilton with maternity, baby and kids boutique items.

Hamilton Gardens is set to host the Precious Bambinos Market on Sunday August 9. The market will make its debut inside the gardens pavilion from 10am- 2pm.

The mastermind behind the market is Waikato mother-of-four, Nicole Joyce.

“I wanted to give small online and home businesses the opportunity to show their items to a wider audience,” Joyce said.

More than 20 stall holders will be selling new clothing, shoes, accessories, decor, toys and educational items. As well,  Pirongia Plunket will hold a fundraising bake stall.

Angel Casts will also hold a fundraising stall offering casting sessions. This will help fund the services they offer to Hamilton families who have suffered the loss of a baby or child.

Joyce juggles her job titles of mother-by-day (children Isla, 8, Carys, 7, Finn, 5, and Aidan, 2) and market creator and organiser-by-night.

Joyce envisioned the idea of creating a market when she returned to New Zealand from the United Kingdom in 2012, along with husband Michael and their children.

She has since created and launched two markets, with a pre-loved maternity, baby and kids market called Scallywags and Munchkins first being held in Te Awamutu in November 2013.

When Joyce brought the market to Hamilton in May 2015, she found stall holders asking her to consider setting up an indoor market specifically for the sale of new and handmade items.

“There are a few regular markets in the Hamilton area but none that are specifically for maternity, babies and kids,” Joyce said.

She created the Precious Bambinos market for stall holders to sell only new and handmade items, whereas Scallywags is for the sale of pre-loved and new items.

With the first Precious Bambinos market set to take place in August, Joyce already has the next one booked in for Sunday, September 20.

“I’m hoping Precious Bambinos will become a regular market, even monthly,” Joyce said.
