A driving test track drawing the crowds has won its creator a Fieldays site award.

The Isuzu stand at Fieldays  received the award for Best Site Experience.

The stand has both an exhibitor site and a test track for  drivers to get a feel of the car they have selected.

Murray Greenhalgh, general manager of Isuzu Utes New Zealand, was delighted with the win.

“It’s great for the team because everybody put in a big effort to set the stand up, and design the stand.

“It takes six weeks for construction, but it’s months in design, and this is our third evolution of building a stand at Mystery Creeks. Each time we’re trying to do a little bit better, and the guys did well this time, and I’ve got to pat them on their back. They deserve it.”

The test track has lots of elevation changes designed to show off the abilities of the Isuzu cars. The cars can be driven around the track in idle without the need of hitting the throttle, brakes or clutch.

Arnold, one of the guide drivers at the test track, says the customers he has driven around have been impressed. “Everyone I have taken around, they’re blown away by what the vehicle does. The D-max has so much power, and it handles itself so well.”

Murray said they have had plenty of customers.

“We have around 250 people a day go for driver experience on test track. So we can’t complain,” he said.

“In the past two days, we sold 36 vehicles, and we have just started our day three.

“The Isuzu D-Max is the best selling vehicle in the range, but in saying that, we have a 3.0 litre suv called MUX, and that vehicle is gaining popularity more.”
