A free app has been created for this year’s Fieldays.

The app uses iBeacon technology and allows users to see their location on a map, find the nearest food vendors, first aid, check the weather, and other essentials. It also updates the schedule of events, seminars, and demonstrations during the day allowing users to create an itinerary.

Most importantly, users can set a pin to the Fieldays map marking where their car is parked – ensuring less angst at the end of the day.

There is also a news section for all the latest Fieldays updates, and a social media function with the #FieldaysNZ hashtag on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Users also will be able to track down Facebook friends who have the app installed.

Fieldays marketing manager Rebecca Wylie said the app would give visitors complete access at their fingertips.

“It’s a really fantastic piece of technology and we’re proud to be able to roll out something so user-friendly and innovative,” Wylie said.

Stock Agent Kane Adams had not heard of the Fieldays app, but was keen to utilise the weather function.

“I’m not sure on what day I’ll be heading out there as we’re moving house, but I’ll definitely use the app to time it around the good weather.”

Although the app is user-friendly, a Fieldays printed programme with a map and timetable will be available for people who prefer information in printed form.

The app can be downloaded on Android or Apple technology through the Fieldays website and is available in five different languages.
