Public help find stolen coffee cart

A stolen coffee cart in Hamilton has been found after pleas to the public prove successful.

A distraught business owner turned to social media after, a coffee cart trailer was stolen from Gordonton Road early Thursday.

Espresso to go coffee cart’s facebook plea helped locate the missing trailer hours later at Keeleys landing, off SH1 south of Cambridge.

Staff member Lindsey Ismail, who manages the coffee cart Monday to Friday, said the cart was stolen during a really small time frame.

Owner Fiona Charlesworth arrived at the cart at 6am to put the soup on, turn on the gas to the coffee machine and deliver fresh scones .

Lindsey arrived 20 minutes later to find the cart gone.

“They might have scoped it out a little bit just to check – because they had the right equipment to take the locks off the towbar.” 

The two turned to the police and facebook,  asking for any sightings of the cart.They added: “let’s catch these thieves and get our beloved cart back”.

Thanks to reports from the public, the cart was found at 8.40am.

Although the cart had not been broken in to,  food, drinks and appliances had spilled about the floor.

More than 600 coffee drinkers shared the facebook plea and Lindsey said they were overwhelmed with the kindness of the Waikato community.
