As the freezing weather hits the country, Hamilton’s Te Awa, The Base shopping centre had a chill of its own.

Disney’s movie Frozen – that is!

This week the shopping centre has provided numerous Disney Frozen activities, for entertainment during the school holidays.

The activities follow the success of the Disney 3D computer animated fantasy comedy based on Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale, The Snow Queen.

Children can record themselves singing the Frozen anthem “Let it go” at the Frozen Karaoke zone.

Once the children have sung the icy tune, they can continue the excitement at the interactive craft activity zone with Disney Frozen arts and crafts.

Hamilton mother Nicola Kelly took her sons Ashdyn, 3, and Maddox, 2, and her niece Giselle, 2, along to the Frozen-themed fun.

“The activities were awesome – the kids had a blast and it was cool to see how into the singing they got.”

The Frozen karaoke zone proved to be the favourite of the day.

“The kids loved the karaoke the most – my oldest boy and niece enjoyed singing and totally loved dancing to all the other kids singing.”

Children gathered around the interactive craft activity zone and some, such as Nicola’s sons and niece, enjoyed the experience so much they took their arts and crafts home to finish.

The Edge radio station will be on site each day with a candy bar station, handing out free bags of lollies and chocolates from United Sweets

The Base marketing manager, Angela Young said a dress-up competition is planned for Friday when children can dress up as their favourite Disney Frozen character.

The free activities will continue this week from 11am until 2pm until Friday April 17.
