The Sacred Heart New Plymouth squad came to Maadi this year to take on the big schools, and take on they have.

The four girls that make up the squad are Ella Toa, 17, Zoe Winks, 17, Jamie Williams, 16, and Georgia Keech, 15.

For Ella and Zoe, this will be the last time they can compete in Maadi.

The girls are proud of their efforts this year.

Ella has secured a spot in the A Final for the U18 singles on Saturday.

Ella and Zoe are in the U18 double B Final on Friday after finishing  fifth in the semifinal today.

They are both aiming to be in the top ten.

Georgia has earned a spot in the U16 singles A Final and U17 singles B Final on Friday.

She and Jamie will also compete in the U17 B Final tomorrow.

Zoe said it felt like a good way to end her school rowing.  “We didn’t do as well as we were hoping, but we do go out to give 100% every time.”

She will continue rowing after school.  “I like it too much to give it up.”

She is moving to Auckland next year for university and hopes to join a squad up there.

She hopes that one day she might make it into a New Zealand squad, but even if she doesn’t she will continue to row for the love of it.

The girls are eager to finish  well over the last  two days.
