Nicky Hager to speak to journalism students about Dirty Politics book

Dirty Politics author Nicky Hager will speak to journalism students at Wintec this Monday.

Nicky Hager, author of the book Dirty Politics, will speak exclusively with Wintec journalism students on Monday.

The Wellington-based journalist and activist was invited to Hamilton by Steve Braunias, the editor in residence at Wintec’s school of media arts.

“I’m thrilled that Nicky accepted the invitation to speak to journalism students at Wintec,” said Mr Braunias.

Mr Hager will hold a private audience with students enrolled in years one, two and three of the degree course in journalism, as well as students in the diploma of journalism course.

As a result of the invitation, he has also arranged to give a public appearance on Monday night at Waikato University.

Mr Braunias said the Wintec students would benefit from the rare experience of sitting down with Mr Hager and discussing some of the methods of his book Dirty Politics.

“It will be a fairly intimate encounter, as opposed to someone on stage giving a speech.

“The students are really looking forward to meeting him.

“It’s shaping up to be one of the highlights of their year at what is widely recognised as the most exciting  journalism school in New Zealand.”

The lecture is 7.30pm on Monday 8 September in S.G.01, the University of Waikato’s S block.
