The power of one

Phil Macpherson says he will be happy to sell one tractor at Fieldays this year.

Macpherson, TYM Tractors national sales manager for PowerTurf, said measuring success is not all about how many tractors are sold during the four days.

“If I can say to my boss that I have sold a tractor off the stand here then that would be magic and it makes it all worthwhile, but on the other hand if we get 10 good leads that come through later on in the future that’s even better,” he said.

With the Waikato already having a few tractors around already, Macpherson is not scared of the competition. He hopes to leave Fieldays with more people knowing who and what Power Turf New Zealand is.

“You could say that we are trying to be like the big guys one day… that’s my ambition anyway,” he said.

“If we sold one tractor at Fieldays on stand here I would be well impressed.

“We did in 2012 when I was here. I nearly fell over myself when the guy got his cheque book out,” said Macpherson, who will travel from Pukekohe each day of the event.

After skipping last year’s Fieldays because of the expense they decided to return this year.

“I had too many people ask me where I was.”

Power Turf New Zealand is a wholesaler and importer for a range of products but Macpherson’s main focus is the TYM tractors from Korea.
