A STIHL commercial began playing in March this year of a farmer riding his horse when he notices his barn on fire. The farmer bursts into the barn and is faced with saving a STIHL chainsaw or Flossie the lamb.

STIHL is a worldwide known chainsaw brand.

Early this month a second-part series of the commercial premiered with two endings. The viewer could choose to save either the STIHL chainsaw, or Flossie.

So far the ‘save the Chainsaw’ ending has 10,779 votes whereas the ‘save Flossie’ ending has 20,532 votes.

STIHL marketing coordinator Sarah Gujer said they were surprised.

“We actually thought the chainsaw, being a STIHL chainsaw, might beat her,” Gujer said.

“But no she’s won on votes.”

STIHL’s website has received massive hits from the commercials.

“It was good for our brand awareness,” Gujer said.

Gujer said they have always taken risks with their commercials.

Will Flossie be feature in any commercials in the future? “Ooh, to be decided,” laughed Gujer.

The public can visit Flossie at STIHL’s stall at Fieldays.

While Flossie was camera shy when getting her photo taken, her mum was being a major ‘stage mom’, baa-ing to onlookers and posing photo-ready.

“Typical mothers,” Gujer said.
