Local metal band Seas of Conflict have two new members and are opening for an international band as their comeback.

Their last performance was five months ago, so when they were asked to open for international band Gideon they were excited to show off new members, bassist Kayne McVeigh and drummer Nic Martin.

Jess_band poster_nGuitarist Declan Storrie said the time out was good. “We had a break to sit down and write new material by ourselves and suss out getting two new members in.”

When asked about the two new additions Declan said: “It’s incredible, finally we’ve felt like it’s right. We’ve only had three practices and the band is tighter than it’s ever been.”

The show will be on May 23rd at The Loft in Hamilton. The acts include New Zealand metal band Saving Grace, Declaration A.D, along with Seas of Conflict and headlining act Gideon.

New music will be played at their comeback gig and the music style may be different from last time.

“With our old music you could pinpoint it to another band, because we did take a lot of influence from other bands, but now we have found our own niche,” said vocalist Kody Naidoo.

Seas of Conflict are far from new on the scene after forming in 2011 and previously opening for international bands Deez Nuts, Thy Art is Murder and Northlane.

The band is preparing for their comeback.“We’re just trying to make sure that we come back stronger than we left off,” guitarist Michael Thomson said. “But we are feeling super confident because we know we are going to ace it.”
