No rewards for Warriors as Bulldogs take win

The Bulldogs took a 16-12 win in a home game at Waikato Stadium where their fans were outnumbered by those backing the Warriors.

The crowd went wild for the Warriors at Waikato Stadium last Sunday, but the Bulldogs still carried off a 16-12 win.

The Warriors dominated in the first twenty minutes of the match but came under heavy pressure from an energetic Bulldogs side.

Warriors coach Andrew McFadden said that players from the Bulldogs took hold of the match early on.

“We weren’t good enough and while we made some inroads, we didn’t stay to the plan from the start,” said McFadden.

“It was tough game and it was always going to be.”

Bulldogs coach Des Hasler also said he had expected a challenge.

“I always knew it was going to be a tough game as [the Warriors] had been playing some really good football and they had 18,000 fans to support them,” said Hasler.

“We had put a bit more pressure on ourselves than we needed to,” he said.

Both coaches said they both enjoyed playing in Hamilton with the Warriors hoping to come back next season.
