After Springsteen’s acoustic version of Royals, complete with a change of lyrics from “Queen Bee” to “King Bee”, the E Street band came out and joined him on stage.

The atmosphere was electric with everyone standing up, singing along and enjoying the evening of first class entertainment.

Ed Fern, a big fan originally from New Jersey, America, and now living in New Zealand, said of the Saturday concert: “Every once in a while I felt like I was back in New Jersey, when the whole stadium was up on their feet singing every word and smiling. No performer that I know of can do what the Boss can do.”

Other concertgoers were also buzzing. “You walk out feeling you’ve been to the top of the Rock and Roll Mountain and your life has been changed,” said one.

After another three-hour performance to a similar sized crowd on Sunday evening, the Boss and the E Street band farewelled New Zealand before continuing on to the North American leg of their tour.
