A youth–led environmental group are bringing a national awareness tour to Hamilton today.

Generation Zero  is traveling the country from Dunedin with their What’s the Hold Up tour to raise awareness about climate change.

The group hopes to persuade  New Zealanders away from fossil fuels to create a sustainable future.

Bradley Blackie, media representative for the Hamilton division, said science had shown climate change was more than just a theory. “We need to make serious changes now for the sake of the planet and our future generations,” he said.

The event will be held at the university campus and will feature guest speakers Sunday Star Times business columnist Rod Oram and Louis Chambers (Co-Founder of Generation Zero and 2013 Rhodes Scholar), along with youth climate leaders.

“If you’ve heard about climate change but you’re not really sure what it’s all about, come along and learn some new things, meet some interesting people and enjoy some free food,” Blackie said.
