A stall at Fieldays is demonstrating the painstaking craft of boot and shoe making.

The shoe fits for a stall promoting New Zealand-made at Fieldays.

Lastrite Footwear is giving shoe-making demonstrations to bring awareness of what goes into quality leather footwear.

“It’s to show how footwear is made,” Neville Brunker from Lastrite Footwear said. “It’s really intriguing to watch someone do it by hand.”

 “It’s just to show people what we can do and what is available that is New Zealand made.

“Automation is always going to be here. This still shows old manufacturing or how a boot is lasted (made).”

A third generation family business Lastrite Footwear was established in 1952, and is demonstrating the making of farmboots, lightweight fashion, slip on and heavyweight industrial.
