Fonterra’s paint by numbers mural a favourite

Fonterra’s paint by numbers mural at Fieldays is drawing attention from children and adults alike.

Fonterra has put up a paint by numbers mural in their stall at Fieldays for children to contribute to.

“There are a lot of kids at the Fieldays and we want to get the kids something interactive that they can do,” said Craig Muller, who was supervising the painting.

Muller works for a production company called Madant, a partner of Fonterra.

“Obviously it ties into the fact that milk is in schools now, which is a great initiative from Fonterra.”

Muller said they were getting a lot of people helping on it, including a large number of adults, and the painting had gone a lot faster than they expected.

“We were kind of banking on one of these taking a couple of days,” he said. “This will be done by the end of the day.

“We haven’t not had at least two or three people on it at a time.”

He said the finished product would probably be put up in one of the Fonterra offices.

“What I love about it is the fact that it’s art-based,” he said. “There’s no one who doesn’t like painting.

“If people can feel like they’ve had their little bit of involvement in something that ends up being a massive piece of art at the end then I think that’s great.

“I did the sun,” he added.

They have other murals to put up once the first one is finished.
