Leamington Businesses have prepared for a peak in business because of the Maadi Cup

Some local business people are smiling all the way to the bank as sales pick up in the wake of hungry rowers hitting town.

Supermarkets and dairies  located on Browning Street on the way to Karapiro have seen most benefit.

Arona Bakery worker Helen Hung said  bakery sales have gone up 30 percent  especially with pies, sandwiches and drinks.

The Four Square  has had more customers coming in but not enough to extend hours. . Kris Hnaa Patal said while they opened earlier for the Waka Ama competition  they did not for Maadi. “We don’t do this for Maadi. Waka Ama brings more families. “

CJ’s Dairy worker Kitty Woo confirmed they had more people coming in to buy drinks.

Newly opened business Fresh Choice supermarket has taken to advertising to attract potential customers. While they are located after the turn  they have put signs directing customers to their store. They have also tailor made deals for rowers including two for one deals on energy drinks.
