To save time Squad support members  Ian McIntosh and Derry Bourke brought the food to the girls. Feeding the troops is their priority at the Maadi Regatta.

Their campaign got an added boost when they were lent a portable barbecue trailer from a friendly Cambridge business.

“We went to the lovely town of Cambridge to buy some meat, and the friendly butcher at The Meat Company said we could have it,” Ian said.

Ian and Derry were more than happy to put their hand up to take a week off and make the journey to Maadi to the support family  in with the regatta. Between the two of them they have three involved, including a coach.

The pair of DIY barbecue experts are not only in charge of the meat section, but also dessert, preparing an array of fruits, berries and also the kiwi classic pavalova.
