Zombie brides descend on Garden Place

Fourteen zombie brides waltzed into Garden Place today and danced for unsuspecting onlookers scattered around, all in the name of Halloween.

The Hamilton undeadest troupe, Necrodancers, performed with  passion in the Halloween special dance ‘ Til undeath do us part’.

The Necrodancers wore their hearts on their sleeves, and their intestines … everywhere.

Zombie and co-ordinator Sandra Jensen said Halloween was a good day for it. Her two daughters Ella and Ailish joined her dancing and got the day of school for it because they “like what mum does”, Jensen said.

Sandra runs the Free Lunch Street Theatre Agency, a company of performance artists who have been taking their characters to the streets since the 80s.

Zombie Anne Ferrier-Watson said it was great fun but “it’s not much fun being un-dead you know.”

Anne said  the group includes workers, students and mums.

“We’re just a bunch of blushing brides who want to get married, having a little trouble finding someone. I think we might find ourselves some like-minded grooms.”

The same dance was performed for the Fringe festival in September with over 30 brides.

Halloween is a yearly celebration on October 31 and has many meanings over different religions. Watch out for the Zombies who may be knocking on your door tonight trick-or-treating.
