General manager Simon Thompson says DAL are always looking for new and forward ideas for the dairy industry.

“We believe that innovation and smart farming are the way forward for today’s dairy industry.”

All DAL products are made in New Zealand and they have been attending Fieldays since 2007.

One of their new inventions demonstrated was HeatSense which is a new heat detection programme.

Mr Thompson says there are many reasons to use  HeatSense, but the main use is capturing dairy cows that are in heat.

“The main idea is that you have a camera pointing at the cow and as she comes into the shed we can pick up that she is on heat and then send her to be inseminated.”

DAL is aiming for a commercial release of HeatSense at next year’s Fieldays.
