Registrations closed yesterday with nine teams enrolled for the competition which begins on Monday April 16.

The competition runs for seven weeks and is held at Hamilton’s Fraser High.

Wheelchairs are supplied and people of all ages, experience and fitness levels are encouraged to take part.

Sport Waikato, Sports Force Parafed development officer Chloe Wickman is pleased with the interest they have received.

“We have new teams from last year and the word is getting out there.”

Proceeds from the competition go towards helping the Waikato Wheelchair Basketball Team fundraise for their upcoming season.

Chloe said it was “great to see people with and without impairments getting out and enjoying sport together”.
