“I am looking forward to coming down Hamilton and getting to experience the legendary hospitality and friendliness,” said Mr Wittenberg, who has given voice to hundreds of characters across TV, cartoons and film.

Mr Wittenberg, who was born in South Africa and now lives in Los Angeles, said he loved meeting his fans at these fantasy conventions. Conventions like Armageddon also give the chance to mingle with the voice acting community.

The keen rugby fan said New Zealand was his favourite place to visit. He played rugby while he was at college, as hooker.

Mr Wittenberg, who was one of the voices for the Star Wars Old Republic computer game, said of all the characters he has voiced, he has one wish. “I would have loved to be the voice of Yoda.”

The Armageddon Expo will be held at the Claudelands Events Centre on April 14 and 15. Mr Wittenberg will be available for photos and to sign autographs.

Fans of the hit show Walking Dead will be disappointed to know that Jon Bernthal, who plays Shane Walsh, will not be attending the expo.
