Jessica Santorik took top ranking in the women’s division with a final score of 11.53, while Gisborne’s Bobby Hansen thrashed the men’s competition, riding in with a solid 15.5.
Hansen was also the overall New Zealand Pro series winner, guaranteeing him a place in the Padang Cup in Indonesia this July.

More than 100 surfers from across the country competed at Manu Bay.
Contest director Ken Bennings said conditions were good on Friday, but that “the surf dropped a bit on Saturday”, and wind made the waves messy and difficult to ride for many of the contestants.
Bad weather forecast for Sunday meant that the competition, which normally runs for three days, was held over two.
The event divided its 108 participants into five categories based on gender and age, and then into “heats,” or groups of four.
Bennings said there were no real surprises, and that “good local surfers got through”.
